Celebrities and the like had a chance to ogle at luxury shoes at the recent Sergio Rossi showroom during the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.

However, perhaps most noted in people’s minds are the Sergio Rossi shoes that have also been seen strutting down the runway paired with clothes designed by Gianni Versace or Dolce & Gabbana.

This combination of Sergio Rossi’s designs with Gianni Versace in the 1970s and later with Dolce & Gabbana in the 1990s may be responsible for pushing the Sergio Rossi name to the fashion world’s A-list.

Today Sergio Rossi maintains high esteem in the fashion market by following a mantra that brought the Italian shoe designer and Gianna Versace together back in the 1960s. Versace contended that clothing was an extension of the woman’s body, in the same way that Rossi considered a shoe and the woman’s foot. It is not necessarily just about the look of the shoe, but how the shoe moves with the body.

In 1999, the brand Sergio Rossi found a home with its buyer, the Gucci Group. This acquirement made it possible for Sergio Rossi to reach out to Tokyo, Paris and other international cities that walked to the beat of the fashion industry’s pace.

The collection of the Sergio Rossi brand today is manned behind Edmundo Castillo, the company’s creative director.

“The beauty of a shoe is in how it transforms the leg and graces it, instead of just covering the feet,” Castillo said. “I am focusing on creating feminine, sexy shoes that would be made of only the finest materials and design along classic shapes with a modern edge.”

It becomes clear that Castillo’s designs for women’s shoes maintain and honor the philosophy shared by the Italian shoemaker himself, Sergio Rossi.
